A Little Dino’s on the Way

Hello friends! I’m finally ready to share the exciting news I’ve been hinting at for the past couple of months. My husband and I are expecting a baby at the end of December! The Lord has been so kind to entrust us with a new life and sustain both my body and the baby’s over the past several months. We can’t wait to be parents! :)

So far, pregnancy has been so good! I felt nauseous all the time (except when asleep…praise God for that break each night!) and a type of exhaustion I’ve never experienced before for about a month and a half during my first trimester. Besides these things though, the discomforts of pregnancy have been pretty limited and a joy to endure when I consider the precious baby we’ll receive at the end of the journey.

My husband, Dylan, has been the very best to me. During my first trimester, he would faithfully and joyfully wake up earlier than normal to make me breakfast or tea so that I wouldn’t feel too sick upon waking up. He also helped so much when it came to daily chores and other responsibilities. I’m so excited for him to be a father and so incredibly grateful that the Lord saw it good to bless me with such a kind and loving husband.

Now that I’m nearing the end of my second trimester, I’m adjusting to new challenges, such as figuring out how to best reorganize our home to make room for Baby. I’m not quite sure what I expected going into pregnancy, but I guess I didn’t expect the baby-prep to take so much time and energy. The Lord has grown and is continuing to grow me in slowing down, taking one day at a time, and not being hard on myself when I don’t finish what I had ambitiously piled on my to-do list at the beginning of each day. My husband gently teases me when we reach 8pm and I remark, “Man, I’m tired! I don’t even know why I’m so tired this early!” He says, “I don’t know why you regularly wonder why you’re tired. You know you’re growing a baby, right?!” He does have a point there. ;)

This baby-prep has definitely affected my ability to interact with you through regular blog and social media posts though. Baby-prep is so good and obviously important, but I wanted to take a moment to say thank you so much for your patience and for continuing to follow along and support me, despite my absence. I’m feeling so very grateful for you and now that our exciting news is out there, I’m hoping to share and connect with you more often!

I finished a devotional book about pregnancy, labor, and motherhood recently. It was encouraging in many ways and pointed my heart to God’s truth in this new journey towards motherhood. I’m planning on sharing the book and my reflections on it in an upcoming blog post, so stay tuned for that! :)

Finally, I wanted to let you know that I’m fully planning on continuing with Sage & Rue once the baby comes. I am currently working on new tea towel designs and am even working behind the scenes to prepare to sell in retail shops. Eek! I’m so very excited about this. I’ll share updates as they come.

Anyway, thank you so much again for supporting my family through Sage & Rue, especially as we prepare to welcome a little one into our home! Do you have kids? What was your favorite and least favorite part of baby-prep? I’d love to hear in the comments!

Much love until next time,
Christy
